Important Announcement

The STEM for All Video Showcase is now at the end of its funding cycle. We are grateful to NSF for funding this effort from 2015 - 2023. We have now converted this Video Showcase to a static site in order to ensure that you will have continued access to all videos. You can still search the videos by presenter name, use multiple filters to find those that are of interest to you, and read the discussions that took place.

Please note that some of the information below may no longer apply, as the event is now closed. Videos from all Video Showcases (2015 - 2022) are accessible on the STEM for All Multiplex.

The 2017 NSF STEM for All Video Showcase: Research & Design for Impact,  will be held online May 15-22, 2017. This event is facilitated by TERC, in collaboration with six NSF-funded resource centers: MSPnet, CADRE, CIRCL, CAISE, STELAR, and CS for All Teachers. It is funded by the National Science Foundation (Award #1642187).

During the seven days of this online showcase event, Principal Investigators, practitioners, administrators, researchers, policy makers, industry and the public at large are encouraged to participate. All participants will be able to view the video presentations, participate in facilitated discussions of each video, and vote for the videos that are most effective in conveying the creative work being done. All videos and discussions will be archived for future access there after.

Goals: The event will showcase cutting-edge NSF-funded work as well as work funded by other federal agencies aimed at improving teaching and learning of STEM. It will encourage communities affiliated with MSPnet, CADRE, CIRCL, CAISE, STELAR, and CS For All Teachers  to learn about and discuss each other's work. It will also allow each project to disseminate their work to the public at large, helping NSF achieve its goal of broad dissemination of innovative work.

Presenters: Projects funded by NSF and other federal agencies are invited to present their work by creating a short (<3 minute) video that showcases the need that they are addressing, their intervention, innovation, and impact and how it is being measured. 

Facilitators: Each resource center has asked facilitators from their respective communities to seed discussions and set a positive tone for constructive, collegial discourse. Groups of facilitators are assigned to a group of approximately 11-12 presentations. Each facilitator group recognizes one presentation per group for recognition based on the following Rubric:

    1. Creatively uses video to share work with a large public audience.
    2. Provides an effective narrative which describes the problem that motivated the project.
    3. Effectively describes the intervention, innovation or research.
    4. Addresses the impact of the project (on participants, or educational practice or research and theory, or on other stakeholders) and how impact has been/will be measured.

Recognized Presentations: All of the presentations show interesting, cutting-edge work. Some will receive special recognition by the Public (through voting on Facebook, Twitter, or on this website), by Presenters (each presenter is asked to choose four videos for recognition), or by Facilitators (who choose 15 videos to be recognized). Recognized videos will be announced online on Tuesday, May 23rd, 2017 and will be tagged with icons showing Public Choice, Presenter Choice, and Facilitator Choice Recognition. They will be recognized by NSF and the resource centers as well.

During the week of May 15th - 22nd, the public is invited to recognize videos that they find most inspiring by going to those video presentation pages voting for them for Public Choice through Facebook, Twitter, or on this site.
